I realise that it can be difficult to get to know a writer who uses a pseudonym so I was thrilled to cross paths with this #73Questions tag through the blogging community. In this post I’ll answer a set of questions with the hope that you can get to know me a little better! 73 questions is a lot, so I thought I’d break it down into two parts for an easier read. I’m not sure anyone is that interested in me to read that much in one sitting!
Also, thank you to Naomi over at Meditative Owl for tagging me in this! You should definitely take the time to head over and check out her blog. There are some really great, insightful posts over there.
Anyway, here we go! Questions 1-37:
1. What is your usual Starbucks order?
I can be a real coffee snob so this is the perfect opening question. Other than an Americano, I’m also happy with a good frothy cappuccino without the chocolate sprinkles or a simple iced latte on a hot day. I can’t say I’ve ever really been one for a fancy Starbucks Frappuccino.
2. What does your workstation look like right now?
My workspace is never the same from one day to the next. Some days I like to work in the sun outside, out at a coffee shop or tucked away at my desk which is pretty minimal, like today. Laptop, stationary, some favourite books, (way too many) notebooks…
3. All time favourite food?
I don’t trust anyone who says anything other than a classic roast dinner with all the trimmings! Like sure, salad is great, but… Have you had a roast potato?
4. Favourite author?
Charlotte Bronte. The Bronte sisters did so much for storytelling especially when broadening the horizons of women, so much more than the likes of Jane Austen, who Charlotte criticised: ‘I should hardly like to live with her ladies and gentleman in their elegant but confined houses’.
5. What do you think of open relationships?
I think it can only lead to heartbreak. Like sure it sounds like a great idea, and good luck to people who are in one, but I think it would just lead to too much confusion and lots of people not knowing where they really stand. Heck, one partner is surely enough, right?!
6. What is your favourite video game?
I’m not really a huge video game person. I always remember playing Mario Kart, so I guess that? I’ve met a few people who say The Sims is great for character development but I’m not sure where I’m at with that yet.
7. Guilty pleasure treat?
Food, something I know I definitely shouldn’t eat but that only makes me want to more. Like a pizza after a night out. I also love a variety of different music, some would consider Country music a guilty pleasure but there are just so many legends! How can you not like it?
8. Favourite movie?
Perhaps it would be The Book Thief? It’s such a touching film with a historic element. The ending is just heartbreaking! If we’re talking classics, then definitely something like Ghost.
9. Favourite book?
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. From an artistic point of view I think Tartt is really great. The Goldfinch won the Pulitzer Prize and it’s often the book I blurt out as my favourite if asked. There’s also a movie adaptation coming out soon, which I hope to enjoy as much as the novel!
10. Twitter or Instagram?
I don’t have Instagram, so it has to be Twitter!
11. Desktop or laptop?
Definitely laptop, I find the keys on desktop to be really clunky. But I mean I’m happy for someone to buy me an iMac…
12. Best advice you’ve ever received?
The minute you stop caring about something, it’s time to move on.
13. What project are you working on right now?
This blog! And also a thriller/mystery/crime (I know, it’s all over the place) genre novel which will be completed in 20–
14. Favourite colour?
Oooo. White! Is white a colour? I don’t know. But white.
15. Did you get good grades at school?
Not at all, I mean I didn’t do badly but I wasn’t one of those people that came out with 100 A’s or something humblebraggy.
16. Dream job?
I’m not sure such a thing exists! But I love writing so I suppose in an ideal world I’d make this hobby into my job.
17. Played any sports?
I used to play tennis a lot until an injury killed that path for me, but aside from that, not really. I like to run and I’m trying to improve my yoga skills.
18. Do you have a degree?
No, not at the minute! It’s something that I’d love to work towards though.
20. What is your favourite kind of blog post to do?
Although this is a blog for my writing, I do want to broaden my horizons out to some spiritual lifestyle posts and perhaps a few recipes! That could be fun.
21. What do you like to collect?
I’m not really one for collecting, I think a lot of clutter stresses me out.
22. Describe yourself in three words
Introverted, humanitarian, artistic
23. If you were a rapper what would your rapper name be?
I don’t think R-Midg has quite the same ring to it as Jay-Z…
24. Who was the last person you DMed?
A good friend who was informing me of a sighting of another old friend. I seriously need to try and catch up with people more.
25. What’s on the top of your wish list right now?
This is a tough one. Maybe that one day I’ll be one of those people that can go outside and sunbathe, tanning nicely rather than turn into a lobster. I’m not bitter at all…
26. Hogwarts house?
I think I’ve been asked this before and the outcome was Ravenclaw? I haven’t got a clue why that is.
27. How many tattoos do you have?
28. What are you most grateful for this year?
I’m most grateful for progress. We’re all becoming better people every day and every year, yes there will be set backs but at the end of the day we’re all living and learning.
29. What’s the best thing that’s happened to you this month?
I RELAUNCHED THIS BLOG. That’s kinda cool.
30. What’s the best thing that’s happened to you today?
Spending time with some close family members after a while apart.
31. What’s the best thing ever?
32. Favourite season?
Spring – new beginnings!
33. Favourite holiday?
I feel like everybody says Christmas, but I really love Halloween. Scary movies, pumpkin spice flavoured everything, leaves changing colour, warm open fire. Sounds good to me!
34. Which fictional character do you relate to most?
Atticus Finch from To Kill A Mockingbird. I aspire to be that fair, voice of reason always seeking justice for what’s right.
35. Do you like surprises?
No. I’m one of those people who loves to plan (sorry, spontaneity) so anything that sets me on edge is a bit of a no-no.
36. What’s the biggest surprise you’ve ever had?
I’ll always remember having my first every doggo being launched at me as a kid, that feeling of happiness is like no other. I’m still a dog lover.
37. What’s a surprise that made you cry?
I’m not sure a surprise has ever made me cry – is that strange? I’m that cynical person at the movies watching a sad film that everyone else is bawling their eyes out at. Like, what’s the big deal?
That’s it for now, but stay tuned for Part Two if you’d like to know what my favourite sushi roll/animated film/lipstick is! I mean, who wouldn’t want to know that? You’re welcome.
